Thief grabs deposit bag from employee | Crime

A weekend deposit from Hardee's, 1700 Malcolm, never made it to the bank.

According to Lt. Patrick Weatherford of the Newport Police Department, someone stole the deposit bag Saturday night after the restaurant had closed.

An employee told police that they had just exited the restaurant when a tall, slender African-American man ran out of the bushes and grabbed the night deposit bag.  The robber then ran toward the residential area behind the store.

No arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.
