Man shot in face, three in police custody | Crime
A Region 8 man is in intensive care at a Little Rock hospital after police say he was shot in the face.
According to Lt. Patrick Weatherford, 43-year-old Eugene Foster was shot at his home in the 2600-block of McDougal St. on January 16.
Investigators say 46-year-old Keith Baumgarner of Tupelo and 48-year-old Drew Dotson, Sr. of Newport came to Foster’s home just after 2:30 a.m. and asked if he was someone they were looking for. When Foster answered no, Lt. Weatherford said Dotson ordered Baumgarner to “shoot him.”
According to a news release from Lt. Weatherford, Baumgarner then “fired one round from a handgun which struck Foster in the face.”
Foster was taken to a local hospital then transferred to a Little Rock hospital. Details of his condition are not available.
Officers arrested Baumgarner several hours later. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the shooting. He was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder. He’s being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Two days later officers searched a home on Country Club Road for evidence of the crime. They arrested 29-year-old Roxanne Sasser of Fisher on a felony charge of Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution. Dotson turned himself in later that evening and was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder.
All three suspects are in custody at the Jackson County Jail.
